David Hamilton was speaking yesterday about how God limited Himself by becoming wholly human. He took on a physical body thus limiting himself to learning one language  as a baby. being in one place. Walking to and from the temple where he learned about God and memorized the Torah. It's a crazy idea on the surface.
It challenges concepts that we just sort of internalize as we grow up.
It makes the verse about "emptying Himself..." much more meaningful. What would it be like to empty yourself of  infinite knowledge to then learn over the course of two or three years how to speak just one language?
Did Jesus retain his infinite knowledge and understanding when he became a man?
If He did would this have made it a fair testing of his perfectly choosing God's Will and not sinning?
And a bigger question raised yesterday was that He retains his physical body even now. That for the rest of eternity Jesus limited himself to a redeemed perfected body.
The finite can never become infinite for it has a beginning, but the infinite can become finite. So if this is true then can the infinite that became finite become once again infinite as it was originally? And if it can then did it ever truly become finite?
This is not what David Hamilton said but it is where my mind went. Although he is touching on it right now.

Hello there. Looks like I need to check in a bit more often. You've been on-line a few times. Actually created a site so we could subscribe. Nothing on it as it became to take a lot more time than I had.

I saw an earlier post pointed at me. You had to know I wouldn't be able to pass up responding!! So... pushing people's boundaries in a positive way is good. Even though we knew it before, we really didn't learn it until we lived abroad. We need to expand and broaden our understanding, but I'll leave it to you (and the Holy Spirit) to decide the good.

I like your last post regarding the tree, beliefs, and the soil. Guess the roots must be your brain and down in the dirt. A fitting picture for us far too often. On a slightly more positive note though, wouldn't the soil be your environment including parents, family, culture, friends, etc.?

As to this post and Christ's physical body, I don't agree that he has "physical" body in the sense we do. Clearly he can take on a physical body as proven by Thomas, however he also appeared in the midst of them in a closed room. Either He's using transporter technology or there's more to the physical body side! I see it as one of those things that make him God, i.e., "my thoughts are as far above your thoughts as the heavens are above the earth". If I my finite mind could understand an infinite God, then He wouldn't be God, would He?

Guess that's enough. And you should be here now. It would definitely be warm enough for you. It's 90+ today and for the next couple days!

I am pretty much with your dad on this one. (That is your dad, right?)
Anyway...Jesus is God. There are no rules. He does whatever He wants, whenever He wants, however He wants. And it works because He is so infinitely good and He made all the "laws" of physics and chemistry in the first place.
The only thing I've ever seen that limits Him is unbelief. I believe it says that in Isaiah somewhere.

E-ric! Thanks a lot! I don't even like SUVs, but that Cruiser looks so neat that now I want one. And it's true that crumple zones are very nice safety features...but I take care of people all the time that are tied up in traction with bars sticking out of their bones that were in cars with crumple zones and air bags. After I went and sat in my car today, I noticed that my knees hit the dash so hard that it popped it out of the frame on the drivers side. And all I have is a bruise that's almost gone. Crazily thankful, I am. :) Hope the DTS is going well and your sound system is now delivered.
